The Vibes Nice
Imagining the Jamaican version of a hip, Havana heyday-era bohemian beach resort swim club, the Skylark Negril Beach Resort draws on inspirations from tropical mid century, modern design, and the vibrant visual vocabulary of Jamaica and it’s vast musical culture. Skylark fosters relaxation and inspires social encounters and creativity. Travelers receive an “instant insider” experience, making guests feel “local on arrival”. Friendly and connected staff offering highly bespoke and local personal travel experiences. The sound track is an ever-present, ultra-educated mix of Jamaican music spanning the decades.
The Skylark Negril Beach Resort incorporates modern simplicity spiced with world-travel inspired flavor. Exteriors feature creative re-purposing of common Jamaican materials, colors, themes, and building supplies. Wood grains and a streamlined form and minimalistic approach create the canvas for vibrant dashes of color and culture. The design concepts conjure a seasoned traveler’s Jamaican beach pad, a respite from regular life where one can re-center, reflect, re-focus, and become re-inspired.
The Skylark features a buzz-generating and constantly rotating programming of iconic Jamaican recording artists and selectors; exhibitions and installations of noteworthy visual artists; and performances by renowned international talent. Guests are provided with a Skylark “Roots & Culture Passport”, encouraging them to take full advantage of everything the property and surrounding community has to offer.
Skylark promotes a culture of "giving back” to Jamaica and actively supports the Rockhouse Foundation. Established by the Skylark owners over a decade ago the Rockhouse Foundation transforms the places where Jamaica’s children learn and supports the great people who teach them. With over US$4 million invested in transforming six local public schools and libraries the foundation impacts the lives of thousands of children and their families everyday. Skylark, Rockhouse, and the owners underwrite all the administrative expenses of the Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, so every cent of every donation supports the projects.
